BUILT AROUND YOUR ENTRANCE

From the flats to the hills

Encino changes on either side of Ventura Boulevard: flatter streets to the north and hillside properties to the south. A gate that fits the look of the house still needs to fit the driveway. We measure the opening, check the grade, and look at where vehicles wait before choosing a swing or sliding layout.

For a level entrance, the question may be whether the gate leaves enough room for a car inside the property. On a sloped approach, we check clearance through the full opening path. A sliding gate needs a clear run alongside the entrance; a swing gate needs usable space behind it. Neither should force a parked vehicle into the gate’s path.

Gate services first

Driveway gate installation

We plan metal and wood-infill gates around opening width, privacy, post locations, and the space available for movement. The frame, hinges or rollers, operator, and safety devices are considered together, rather than adding a motor to a gate that does not move freely.

Gate repair and welding

A dragging leaf, damaged roller, loose hinge, or cracked weld can make an operator work harder than it should. We check the gate’s physical movement before blaming the motor, then explain what can be repaired and what needs replacement.

Operators and safety checks

If a gate stops halfway, reverses, or stays open, the cause may be in the travel limits, controls, wiring, or safety devices. We inspect the operator and gate together, including photo eyes and vehicle-detection equipment where fitted.

Remotes, keypads and entry systems

A household, shared entrance, and business do not need the same access setup. We can review remotes, keypads, and telephone entry, along with how guests enter and how access is removed when a user no longer needs it.

ACCESS WITHOUT THE DAILY HASSLE

Plan for the people using the gate

At a private home, reliable access starts with a clear place to stop and a control that is easy to reach. At a shared driveway, resident access and visitor entry need to work without leaving the gate open all day. We review the layout with you, including pedestrian access, delivery visits, and where an operator can be serviced.

For an existing gate, tell us what changed: a new noise, slower movement, a remote that works only nearby, or a gate that closes and opens again. Those details help narrow the inspection. Avoid repeatedly cycling a struggling gate or bypassing its safety devices while waiting for service.

GARAGE DOORS, TOO

Keep the garage entrance working with the driveway

When the gate and garage door share one approach, both opening paths matter. A one-piece door swings outward as it opens; a sectional door travels upward on its tracks. We check parked-car clearance and the existing door’s condition before recommending a repair or replacement.

Metro GDS services sectional, one-piece, and overhead garage doors, including springs, cables, tracks, and openers. For a noisy or uneven door, we inspect the hardware and balance rather than using opener force to hide a mechanical problem.

Springs, cables and tracks

A broken spring or damaged cable can leave a door too heavy to lift safely. Stop using an uneven door and arrange an inspection. We check the related hardware, track alignment, and door movement so the repair addresses the cause of the problem.

Openers and replacement doors

For opener trouble, we check the door first, then the drive, limits, controls, and safety sensors. If you are replacing a door or converting a one-piece door to sectional, we review headroom, side clearance, tracks, and the appearance you want before outlining the options.

Before your Encino service visit

Should I repair the existing gate or replace it?

That depends on the frame, supports, moving parts, and controls. A failed component does not automatically mean a new gate. We inspect what is there, explain the repair options, and separate needed work from optional upgrades.

Can a gate work on my sloped driveway?

We need to inspect the grade and opening path. A layout that works on a level lot may not clear a hillside approach. The free on-site estimate lets us measure the actual entrance rather than promise a fit from a photo.

What should I tell you when I call?

Tell us whether the problem is with the gate, garage door, or both, whether it is stuck open or closed, and what happens when you use the controls. For a new installation, describe the entrance and the access setup you want.
